Ger Doornink
GerDoornink (1949) received an education at the Arnhem Art Academy in Publicity. Doornink is a very versatile artist who started his career as designer and photographer in the advertisement business and the fashion world. Here he build quite the reputation, using an alias: Gerry the Cat.
He lived and worked in Tokyo, where he became acquainted with the Japanese style, and used this in his designs. In Milan he became seriously impressed of the Italian masters and the Italian way of life. When he returned to Amsterdam,Doornink studied the Dutch old masters like Rembrandt.
Nowadays he paints large portraits of women. He combines different aspects of his career in his paintings like the graphic design, influences from the old masters and his eye for beauty. He feels throughout his career he has always been looking for the aspect of beauty in the world surrounding him. Now he wants to present an element of beauty into art loversandcollectioners’ homes.

Ger Doornink is een veelzijdig creatief talent die zich vooral toelegt op het schilderen, illustreren en fotograferen. Vaak ook worden de verschillende technieken gecombineerd en is de uitkomst meer dan verrassend.
Zijn grootse passie is schilderen in een geheel eigen moderniteit wat hem tot een ware meester op dit terrein maakt. Begin jaren 80 vestigde Ger zich in Tokio. Hier raakte hij geïnspireerd door de Japanse manier van vormgeven.
Hij ontwikkelde zich op het terrein van fotografie in combinatie met airbrush. Na zich deze techniek eigen te hebben gemaakt verhuisde hij naar het 'fashion mekka' Milaan. Hier nam zijn manier van werken een enorme vlucht onder het pseudoniem Gerry the Cat. Zijn manier van covers maken voor fashion magazines verwierf bekendheid in heel Europa en Amerika.
Door het zien van werken van de grote Italiaanse meesters raakte hij meer en meer geïnteresseerd in de schilderkunst. Mode en grafische vormgeving zijn altijd bronnen van inspiratie gebleven.
