Tamara Kvesitadze
TAMARA KVESITADZE (1968)
The reputation of Tamara Kvesitadze extends far beyond the borders of her native land.
After her work had been shown at a group exhibition in the Georgian pavilion at the 2007 Venice Biennale, at the 2011 Biennale she had the honour of representing Georgia with a highly successful solo exhibition.
Her work includes kinetic sculptures – for example, the 8m-high figurative installation Man and Woman at the seafront in Batumi/Georgia – and watercolours. She focuses on the fragmented human body in order to raise questions about individuality and the relationship of the individual with his fellow-humans and with society.
