John Camacho

I' m not Christian, Muslim or Jewish yet i paint images of what i believe is a contmeporary vision of the Virgin Mary. I see this figure as an archetypal experience deeper than any theological interpretation. I use her partly to comment about the Feminine in society and my own personal history and struggles.


My work, so far, has dealt mainly with issues of the Feminine in society. I try to speak to the suffering of one half of the consciousness of this planet. I adress the denial and outright brutality that has been the persistent way of relating to this aspect of society and our own individual psyches; rendering us, and the world conscience unfulfilled.
